Jobs boost for Scotland as TenTel secures £170,000 in RSA funding

Independent telecoms company, TenTel, revealed today plans to create over 40 new jobs following a £170,000 Regional Selective Assistance funding award. The grant will also enabling the company to re-locate to larger premises outside Edinburgh, paving the way for continued growth.

TenTel is one of the few service providers that offers no-contract broadband and telephone services and in its first year of trading has built its team to 50 people. With ambitious growth plans, TenTel expects to sign up a further 50,000 customers over the next 12 months and increase the team to over 100 full-time staff.

The company expects to announce the location of a new state of the art headquarters towards the end of the year. The new site will be tailor made with the technology and equipment needed to support current business needs and future proof the company for rapid growth.

Competing in the market with the ‘Big4’: BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin, TenTel is a ‘challenger’ telecoms company that offer a unique service giving residential tenants the opportunity to have phone and broadband services live the day they arrive at their new property. Their emphasis and focus on providing world class customer service and ‘being on the customers’ side’ also makes for a unique and refreshing experience within the telecoms sector.

There are currently 3.9 million private tenants in the UK and this is forecast to grow strongly in the next three to five years. TenTel’s disruptive business model creates choice for the consumer and brings much needed transparency on pricing to the residential lettings market.

Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) is a discretionary grant set up by Scottish Enterprise. Funding is given to companies that will directly result in the creation or safeguarding of jobs in Scotland. Companies have to meet strict criteria to be successful and the amount offered depends on the size of the business, location of the project and assessment of how much is needed for the project to go ahead.
