App to manage student finances is a hit with judges in teen pitching challenge

An app created to assist students with their personal finances has scooped first place at an innovative pitching competition designed to challenge Glasgow teenagers to come up with their own creative digital start-up idea.

PA was created by Daniel Marshall and John Yogathas, two 17 year olds from Glasgow, who were students of the RookieOven Academy, a six-week start-up school that gives 16-18 year olds the chance to develop digital, marketing and entrepreneurial skills. Students devise their own digital product idea and at the end of the course they pitch their concept to industry experts.

Christmas parties that “strike” the right note

Christmas parties are one of the most talked about subjects at this time of year, and usually not for the right reasons! People have been taking to twitter to share their worst office party stories using #officepartyfails and it’s not pretty!

It’s not surprising, then, that according to event management platform Eventbrite, non-traditional Christmas parties are on the rise. Always keen to stay ahead of the trend, the cats at Hot Tin Roof will be donning the requisite footwear and heading to the bowling alley next week, fuelled by some festive fizz, a mince pie or two, and a strong competitive streak.

Today clinical and translational informatics company, Aridhia, celebrate the opening of its new office in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the largest acute hospital in Western Europe.

Aridhia broadens European appeal with new RSRCH-Health service in Netherlands

Scottish clinical and translational informatics company Aridhia, Netherlands-based ICT service provider Vancis, and clinical datasets experts MGRID are today announcing the expansion of their existing partnership with the launch of a new research platform service, RSRCH-Health, into the Netherlands.

The initiative will be introduced at the Health-RI conference on December 1st in Amersfoort, Netherlands to an audience of researchers, academics and clinicians who are being encouraged to work together to enable ground-breaking biomedical research. (more…)
