- What’s your biggest phobia? I only really have one. Arachnophobia. I wish I didn’t, but I can’t stand spiders. When I travelled in Australia and Fiji, it was my friend Laura’s number one job to rescue me from spidery situations, which she did several times! Fortunately, these days, my five year old is a bit of a bug fanatic. So, provided it’s not too big, he’s usually happy to catch and release when we find a spider at home!
- What is your favourite book/tv show? A couple of years ago my friend Stacey and I started a local book club, and we’ve read some crackers recently, including The Day She Died (S.M. Freedman’s book rather than Catriona McPherson’s, whose I’ve not read) and The Marriage Portrait by Maggie OFarrell, who we went to hear speak about her inspiration for the book at Wigtown last year. But I love non-fiction too, especially those reference books you dip in and out of all the time, and I wouldn’t be without my herbal encyclopaedia.
- What do you do outside of work to unwind? My evenings and weekends are a blur of cooking, eating, weight lifting, running, family beach walks and garden time. Everything I love!
- Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? You make your own luck.
- What trends do we think will take off in PR/comms/media landscape? Short film and audio content is increasingly becoming the norm in B2B PR and the challenge is to find creative ways to illustrate R&D concepts, business updates and data-led innovation that might have previously not been considered as strong visual stories. Our in-house film production capability at Hot Tin Roof means global agencies like Reuters now commission us to film on their behalf. And we are increasingly using film and audio to pitch our clients’ stories to journalists – this can be a really effective way to help a journalist understand a story. With more of our team being upskilled in filming and editing, this is a trend that Hot Tin Roof is leading the way with.
Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight the amazing individuals who make Hot Tin Roof the purpose-driven powerhouse it is today! 💪✨
